Kasempa. Zambia. : My home church supports missionaries stationed in Kasempa. I was able to tag along with a group from that church who came over to do a medical missions trip. They held several free clinics and provided some basic medicine and vitamins and education as well as some basic dental work. It was a great time to hang out with Americans and see familiar faces. I looked forward to any opportunity that got me out of the city.

Kawambwa. Luapula Province. Zambia : While living and working in Zambia I was provided a great of freedom to travel throughout the country. I went to Kawambwa to visit an American Missionary and his family. While there, we were able to visit a UN Refugee camp. It housed and fed more than 14,000 Congoleese refugees who fled from the political turmoil of the Congo. It was a fascinating day of adventure. I've never been so racially out numbered before in my life.

Mtendere Development Center. Lusaka. Zambia: : The centre in Mtendere was where I tried to spend most of my time. It housed our small orphan friends at night and taught them through the school there during the day. I'd sit with the kids, read stories, eat freeze-its and play football. Bliss. The babies would smile and giggle and try to eat my fingers or face. The local kids would call me "John Cena" and I always came out significantly dirtier than when I arrived.

Livingstone. Zambia : Livingstone was often a refuge for me when I was working 6 hours away in Lusaka. It was a cheap vacation from the chaos and noise. It provided a chance to connect with fellow westerners or other travelers from abroad. It was and still is a place of adventure that filled the need for excitement that I find deep inside of my heart. Livingstone is an anything goes town; filled with rowdy travelers or locals trying to survive off tourism or the deep pockets of the visitors. Livingstone is truly one of my favorite places in the world, dirty streets and all.
